An explicit cap on work-in-progress, typically in a Kanban system — limits concurrent work to increase throughput.

Central to Kanban. Encouraged in SAFe (ART Kanban, Team Kanban). Sometimes adopted by Scrum teams. Not prescribed but commonly used.
